December Dinner Meeting 2025: Hudson's Rising

The Hudson’s site development is located on the iconic 2.1-acre Hudson’s site in downtown Detroit. The site was formerly home to Hudson’s, Detroit’s premier department store that was demolished in 1998. The new development will house 1 million sq ft of residential, entertainment, cultural, office, retail, and hotel spaces as well as 700+ space underground parking structure. In total, the development is comprised of three distinct structures- the Block, the Tower, and the Plaza- each with distinct structural programs. Learning Objectives: -A review of challenges and risks around early works packages. -An overview and understanding of the structural systems of the building and why they were selected. -How early contractor engagement can aid in decision making and streamline the construction process.
