Join the YEC for a FREE virtual tour led by Nucor Steel. The session will include a 360 VR virtual tour of the Nucor Yamato steel plant and a presentation on all things related to steel production. Attendees will receive 1 hour of continued education credit.
Nucor is the largest steel producer in North America. Delivering strong domestic capacity and meeting the needs of the most demanding architectural and structural challenges is Nucor’s commitment to the marketplace. An overview of the steel production process will be highlighted with an interactive virtual reality experience. We will discuss the benefits of using high strength low alloy quench and self-temper (QST) structural shapes and plates versus traditional lower strength grades as we explore the steel-making process. We will highlight recent steel projects and applications which have pushed the envelope and met challenging owner demands which couldn’t be met with concrete and wood. Walk away with confidence and resources so your team can leverage these innovations successfully in your upcoming projects.
- Learn about the domestic marketplace for structural steel and the supply chain advances to meet project demands
- Learn about high strength steel production for both the beam (A913) and plate markets (A709) and the benefits they bring to table for both design and constructability while highlighting the new plate mill being built in the Midwest right now that will produce plate 170” (~14’) wide.
- Learn about innovative completed projects and innovations in steel in the marketplace that can be directly applied to future buildings, bridges and industrial applications locally and around the country.
1 CE credits will be earned. Certificates will be emailed after the tour.
