Why should I consider the SEAOI Refresher Course?

The SEAOI Refresher Course is by far the best established and most comprehensive structural engineering exam preparatory class available today, and is available live or online. SEAOI’s Refresher Course provides content as well as structure to help you prepare for the SE exam, consisting of 46 sessions (over 80 hours of instruction time) covering seven subject-area sections: Geotechnical, Seismic/Wind, Steel, Bridge, Structural Concrete, Masonry, and Wood. You’ll also learn from the best -- SEAOI instructors are highly experienced professional structural engineers, and most of them also have 10 years or more of collegiate-level teaching experience.

If I am already licensed, can I use the course for continuing education credit?

Yes, SEAOI offers CE credit for these classes. Classroom attendees need to sign in for each session to get credit. Web attendees will need to complete a quiz after each content area of the class.

When and where are classes offered?

Classes are held in a downtown Chicago lcoation on Monday and Thursday evenings, 6:00-7:45 pm (central time). Location will be determined prior to the first class.

Is the class offered online?

Yes, all sessions are available online. They are broadcast real time, and a chat feature allows online participants to ask questions that will be addressed by the instructor in the classroom. We encourage you to participate in online discussions to get the maximum benefit from the class.

Are class recordings available?

Recordings for each content area are available until the April SE exam, and again for the month prior to the October SE exam. Please note the materials and recordings are unavailable between the April exam and the month prior to the October exam.

How will I get my materials?

Materials are emailed separately for each section of the class immediately before that section starts. Detailed information will be provided to registrants closer to the time the class begins.

When do I receive login instructions?

Detailed login instructions will be sent to online participants before the course starts in September.

Can I switch between classroom and online participation?

Yes. We do ask that all participants designate a primary means of participating so we can plan the delivery of classroom materials appropriately and also notify building security of who will be in attendance in the classroom. Where participants have an option, classroom participation is encouraged.
