Software programs that design masonry using finite element analysis (FEA) are beneficial to structural engineers because they analyze the structure as a whole - the lintels, jambs, walls, etc. all work together. They also allow engineers to understand complex problems and find reasonable, approximate solutions. In this presentation, we will review masonry software options and learn about masonry applications in FEA.
- Answer the question: Can FEA help us have a better understanding of masonry walls?
- Identify how to customize software to more accurately model masonry.
- Achieve a more accurate analysis, more efficient design, or both.
This will be a Zoom conference call.
