Email Session

Stop email from monopolizing your workday (and nights) -- How to Write Better Email so Your Inbox and Outbox Stop Wasting Your Time

Email takes more of our workday than we like, but we can reduce our email time burden if we write better email. Badly written emails cause more stress because they leave the reader wondering, “What do you want me to do? What are you trying to say?”

In this interactive, hands-on workshop, you’ll learn:

  • How and why to present your main point at the beginning of your email
  • How to write a must-open subject line
  • How to format your email to make it scannable
  • How to use a tone that will help you build rapport
  • How to write mobile-friendly email
  • How to handle negative situations in email
  • How to write email templates you can reuse

Report Writing Session

1:30 pm – 5:00 pm

No more hiding from wrapping up that report -- How to Plan Your Report Before You Write It, So It Takes Less Time to Review and Edit

It’s discouraging to spend days drafting a report (proposal, field report, observation report or white paper) only to have your manager tell you it needs a ton of changes. In this workshop, you’ll learn a process for planning your reports that will make them easier to write and more likely to make it through your manager’s review.

In this interactive, hands-on workshop, you’ll learn:

  • How to budget your time for each step in the writing process
  • How to use a customizable Report Planner before you begin drafting your report
  • Why you should get your manager’s sign-off on the Report Planner
  • How to structure the sections of your report
  • Tips for creating the first draft of your report
  • How to make your report flow from one section to the next
  • How to manage the writing process when there are multiple authors

For each half day session, registration fees are $140 for members and $190 for non-members.
