SEPAC represents the interests of our profession in political and legislative settings.
Through its officers, volunteers, and legislative lobbyist, SEPAC takes
an active role in protecting the practice of structural engineering
in Illinois.

On April 8th, 2008, the Illinois legislature introduced legislation to
re-enact the Structural Work Act (SWA). If approved the SWA would allow injured workers to recover damages from contractors other than their
direct employers. SEAOI, along with a number of other engineering and architectural organizations, opposes the Structural Work Act because
of the liability it would impose on design professionals. Please contact your state representative
