2015 Bridge Symposium - Call for Abstracts

Individuals wishing to provide a 25-minute and/or a 5-minute presentation are invited to submit an abstract (MS-WORD format) on any general interest subject related to the analysis, design, construction inspection, or in-place monitoring of bridge projects. The Symposium registration fee will be waived for the presenting author.

5-MINUTE PEARLS:  The Committee invites submittal of short abstracts for 5-minute presentations about any bridge related topic that is worth sharing with the attendees. The suggested topic should be innovative, useful, and/or practical. Contact eoconnor@seaoi.org.

Read the full Call for Abstracts here.  Completed abstracts are due in the SEAOI office by January 15, 2015.

SEAOI 50th Anniversary

Fifty Significant Structures in Fifty Years
SEAOI is asking the design community to nominate significant projects designed by SEAOI members over the last 50 years. Projects can be new construction or structural renovations. Buildings, bridges, industrial and special structures are all eligible. The project need not be located in Illinois, or even the US, but the Structural Engineer must be/have been an SEAOI member.

Completed nomination forms (along with an image of the project) are due to the SEAOI office by January 31, 2015.

All submissions will be reviewed and fifty projects will be selected. The list of selected projects will be announced in mid-2015.

Dinner Meetings

In honor of the 50th anniversary of SEAOI, the Dinner Meeting topics for 2014-2015 will be dedicated to a significant project from each decade of SEAOI's history.

January's presentation will be on the Adaptive Re-Use of Solider Field (2000s).  The February meeting will feature the John Hancock building (1970s). The series concludes in March with a presentation on innovative structures of the 1980s, including the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, 900 N. Michigan, and 100 N. Riverside.
